Taipei, November 20 (CNA) Taiwanese construction company RSEA Engineering Corp. and its contractors collapsed on a scaffold at a construction site in New Taipei on Saturday, killing three people and each facing a fine of NT$300,000. Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

According to the city’s fire department, three workers were killed and two others were injured at a MRT construction site in the Three Gorges District at around 1 p.m. on Saturday.

OSHA official Zhu Jinlong said that OSHA’s preliminary investigation showed that the formwork used as part of the building was not properly secured and collapsed after pouring concrete, causing the scaffolding underneath to also collapse. Central News Agency.

He added that although OSHA, which is part of the Department of Labor, is still investigating the incident, it has decided to impose a preliminary fine of 300,000 Taiwan dollars (10,691.37 U.S. dollars) on RSEA Engineering Corp. and each of its contractors.

At the same time, the New Taipei prosecutor said in a statement late on Saturday that a response team had been established to cooperate with the police and labor departments to conduct an autopsy and investigate the incident.

According to the fire department, one of the dead was Thai Phuangket Chakkarin, and the other two were Taiwanese Zheng Songnan and Lin Jinxing.

The department stated that two injured workers, Wu Mingyi (Wu Mingyi) and Nachmtien Nopphon, also from Thailand, had broken their legs.
