The scaffolding has largely gone from the former House of Fraser building giving locals their first real look at what the well known landmark in central Inverness will really look like.

The £12.5 million regeneration is aimed at revitalising both Union Street and Baron Taylor’s Street to create the Highlands’ most prestigious retail destination through six new retail units on the ground floor.

Named Union Court the site has had scaffolding all around it for the last few months as work progresses but now the scaffolding is gone locals can form their own views with the redevelopment already winning fans.

Ophelia, an assistant manager at Oil and Vinegar just on Union Street, said: “I love it, it really looks perfect.

“I’m hoping that it will bring more foot traffic around Union Street, which would help everyone. I am also excited to see all the shops that might go in there because it looks really good, really classy, and well done.”

“We would welcome any and all development and that it continues, we recognise that it is a challenging environment but individually and collectively Inverness really is progressing very well.”
