Exterior work is wrapping up on the Moxy Lower East Side, an 18-story hotel tower at 145 Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Lightstone Group, the 127,000-square-foot structure will yield 303 guest rooms, a Japanese restaurant, two bars, a subterranean nightclub, and an outdoor rooftop lounge. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Bowery and Broome Street.

A lot has transpired since our last update nearly a year ago in late September 2021, when the reinforced concrete superstructure had recently topped out and the façade of floor-to-ceiling glass and black metal frames was beginning to enclose the lower levels. Since then, the bulky construction elevator has been dismantled from the southwestern corner and the remainder of the envelope has been filled. Sidewalk scaffolding still covers the ground floor as work wraps up on the entrance and surrounding sidewalk.

The Moxy Lower East Side stands comfortably above the height of most of its neighbors, and should provide guests on the upper levels with views of the Midtown and Lower Manhattan skylines.

The following close-up photographs show the details in the architecturally finished concrete surfaces and large industrial-style windows.

The closest subways to 145 Bowery are the B and D trains at the Grand Street station to the southeast. The J and Z trains are also located nearby at the Bowery station to the north. The site is within close proximity of a number of tourist destinations in Chinatown and Little Italy.

Lightstone Group’s website indicates that the Moxy Lower East Side will open to guests in 2022, but no specific date was stated. Based on the state of progress, sometime in the fall or early winter is likely.

Very high quality. I like it.

An 18-story hotel tower with finished concrete surfaces, and large industrial-style windows. Views to Lower Manhattan skylines from its height above neighbors, beautiful offer at night when guests want to come out to see: Thanks to Michael Young.
