Scaffold software to help scaffolders comply with TG20:08

CADS has launched version 2.0 of SMART Scaffolder – fast, easy and accurate scaffold software that helps scaffolders to estimate and design TG20-compliant scaffolds.

SMART Scaffolder version 2.0 users will benefit from a new user interface that makes the popular scaffold software even faster and easier to use.

New benefits include a built-in word processor with integrated spell checker which enables users to modify and format text in covering letters and quotations and add photos, drawings and 3D images.

Other new features make it easier to understand the breakdown of costs within an estimate.

A new ‘Cost Analysis Summary’ report shows a breakdown of labour costs, material costs, overheads and profit for each scaffold item. The report is also displayed in a new coloured pie-chart.

It is now easier to modify the price by applying new values for the profit, discount, labour overhead and material overhead.

Improvements have also been made to the printed reports in SMART Scaffolder. It is now possible to print quotations, TG20:08 check reports, load lists and drawings for selected scaffold items.

Users can create quotations for one-off customers faster as their contact details can now be entered directly into an estimate without needing to first enter them into the integrated address book.

In 2010 system scaffolding will be introduced across the SMART Scaffolder range of software. Users will be able to quickly model system scaffolding in order to produce price estimates, drawings and picking lists. Initially for Cuplok, other popular systems will follow shortly afterwards, including Layher and Kwikstage.

Version 2.0 of the popular scaffold software was unveiled at the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) 2009 AGM at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Edinburgh.

CADS Sales Director Ian Chambers said: “November has been a record month for sales of SMART Scaffolder. We are seeing revenues rise month on month due to increasing awareness of the benefits driving up demand for it.

“In less than two years since the first release we already have more than 200 Smart Scaffolder customers, with at least one in every county.”

The scaffold software helps companies to comply with HSE safety guidance for working at height and to comply with the recently adopted TG20:08 rules by confirming whether or not a scaffolding configuration can be designated as a ‘basic scaffold’.

Under TG20:08, any proposed scaffolding which is not a ‘basic scaffold’ must be designed by a competent expert such as a chartered structural engineer.
