The Upper West Side of New York-this is not the most popular attraction for children every day.

Since 2011, the roof of PS 165 on West 109 Street between Broadway and Amsterdam has been undergoing endless repairs, resulting in scaffolding covering the building.

Frustrated parents at the Upper West Side School told the New York Post that the roof project is estimated to cost $17 million and attracts "pests and drug users who use scaffolding as a cover after dark."

This is an elementary and middle school, which means that all students in school have never seen a school without scaffolding.

In a statement to the New York Post, the spokesperson of the School Construction Bureau, Kevin Ortiz, said: "This initial effort has uncovered other structural issues that need to be addressed." "Masonry and roofing works require additional contractors. This includes installing new structural steel on the building. We understand the impact of this on the school and are working hard to complete this important work by the summer of 2022."
