On the early morning of December 1, 2021, Kenny Werner, 64 years old in St. Leon, Indiana, passed away peacefully while listening to "Silent Night." Many people affectionately call it "taco", and his softball friends gave Kenny the nickname. Baseball is Kenny's hobby. Whether he is playing, coaching, refereeing or watching, baseball is part of him. He was a star left-handed pitcher in high school, played for a short time in college, and participated in the Cincinnati Reds and Montreal Expo before being cut due to his height. Kenny then moved to industry and the Legion League until he found himself coaching baseball and softball for the children. Not ready to give up his love of sports, he served as a baseball, volleyball, softball, and basketball referee at Eastern Central High School, other local schools, and the CYO League. He likes to do anything outside, including wandering in the fire pit and stove near the barn. You can find Kenny in the barn, and he uses his carpenter skills to make objects for his family and friends. He made a table for the house, a very heavy bar for the basement, a nativity scene, and his recent creation, the sleigh he likes to distribute. Kenny likes to hunt deer and process his own meat. For many years, Kenny worked as a carpenter at Fernald, where he often worked on tasks that no one else could do...such as building and climbing several floors of scaffolding in the air.

Family is Kenny's pride and joy. The trip to Gatlinburg will forever be remembered affectionately, because it is one of the most popular attractions and a place where many memories have been left behind. Kenny and his wife Loraine like to travel the world. They visited holy places, France, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, to name a few. Kenny and Loraine also like to go to Athens, West Virginia, every week to see his youngest son Nate pitching for his college team. Moreover, he is proud of his youngest son's service in the Coast Guard. As a grandfather, Kenny likes his spoiled granddaughter. He never fails to share his love for peanut butter with his granddaughters, they always leave with a Reese cup. Even if communication becomes difficult for Kenny, he still insists on letting his girls get candy.

Kenny will deeply miss his wife Loraine, who has been married for 32 years, and their children Ashley (Nick Philpot), Wolfe and Sang Amy Wettering from Sunman, Elaina Quinn Werner from St. Leon; Granddaughters Autumn Wolfe and Jorja Wettering; from Ohio Harrison's mother, Polly Crawford (Polly Crawford); in-laws Cincinnati's Judy (Jim) Sarthoff, St. Leon's Mary Lujonas, Milan's Maggie (Ken) Fluegeman, Milan Carroll (Dave) Schwanholt, John (Debbie) Schumann of Memphis, Tennessee. Before Kenny died, his father Raymond Warner and brother Alan Warner died.

The visit will be held at the All Saints Parish Life Center on Monday, December 6, at 7536 Church Lane, W. Harrison, IN 47060. The prayer beads will start at 4:00 pm, and the visiting time will be 4:15 – 7:00 pm. The Christian funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 7th at 11:00 in the All Saints Church of St. Joseph's Catholic Church with priests. Hosted by Jonathan Meyer. The funeral will be followed up immediately. For those who cannot attend, Mass will be broadcast live at https://www.youtube.com/user/aspweeklyhomily. It can be commemorated for St. Joseph Legion Post 464 and Margaret Mary Hospice. The monument will take place during the visit, or it can be mailed to the Andres Westfield Funeral Home, 25615 State Rt. 1, Guilford, IN 47022.
